Rashid Khan has been made the captain of the team. 15 players have got a chance in Afghanistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup. Three players have been kept in reserve.
Many changes took place in the team
Afghanistan has made many changes in its team from T20 World Cup 2022. In which Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq and Noor Ahmed have been included in the team. Whereas Hashmatullah Shahidi, who captained Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup 2023, has not got a place in the team. He played the last T20 International match for Afghanistan in the year 2022. The responsibility of captaincy for the upcoming T20 World Cup has been handed over to Rashid Khan.
The player who debuted against Ireland got a chance
Nangyal Kharoti made his international debut for Afghanistan this year against Ireland. This 20 year old player impressed in the series against Ireland. In that series, Nangyal took five wickets in three matches at an economy of only 5.90. Mohammad Ishaq, who was a part of the Afghan team in the Under-19 World Cup in 2020 and 2022, has also got a chance.
In the T20 World Cup 2024, Rashid will be seen leading the spin department in the Afghan team with the support of Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Noor Ahmed, Nangyal Kharoti and experienced Mohammad Nabi. Naveen-ul-Haq, Farid Ahmed and Fazalhaq Farooq have retained their places and form Afghanistan’s fast bowling line-up.
