New Delhi. Afghanistan, which had high hopes, surrendered miserably to South Africa in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. South Africa, infamously known as ‘chokers’, bowled out Afghanistan for 56 runs. This is the lowest score in any semi-final of the Cricket World Cup. Earlier, the record of the lowest score in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup was in the name of Sri Lanka (128/6). Sri Lanka’s team was stuck at 128 runs against England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2010.
The ‘Kabuliwallahs’ who reached the semi-finals after defeating Australia and New Zealand disappointed a lot in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. The Afghanistan team could not stay on the field for even 80 balls against South Africa. South Africa bowled out Afghanistan in just 11.5 overs.

The Afghanistan team, which reached the semi-finals by giving the best performance in its cricket history, disappointed its fans on Thursday. The Afghan team, which came to bat first after winning the toss, had a bad start. Its opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz got out without opening his account. Then whichever batsman came, it seemed that he was in a hurry to return. The result was a fall of wickets. The Afghanistan team, which lost its first wicket at four runs, lost its fourth wicket at 20 runs, fifth at 23 runs and sixth at 28 runs. In no time, the entire team was all out after scoring 56 runs in 77 balls.
Number four batsman Azmatullah Omarzai was the top scorer for Afghanistan. He scored 10 runs in 12 balls. Interestingly, ‘Mr. Extra’ scored a bigger score than Omarzai. Afghanistan got 13 runs as extras.
