The situation was such that they ran towards the Indian borders to save their lives. Now the statement of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has also come out in this matter. Emphasizing the importance of freedom, the CJI on Thursday said that the recent events in the neighboring country Bangladesh remind us of the value of these rights. While talking to the media after hoisting the tricolor in the Supreme Court premises, CJI Chandrachud said, “Independence Day reminds us of the duties of the people of the country towards each other and towards the nation to realize all the values ​​of the Constitution.”

Justice DY Chandrachud further said, “What is happening in Bangladesh today is a clear reminder of how valuable freedom is for us. It is very easy to take freedom lightly, but it is important to understand the events of the past, so that we remember how important these things are.” The Chief Justice’s remarks came amid growing concerns in India over incidents of attacks on the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on August 5 after several weeks of violent protests and left the country and came to India. Justice Chandrachud said that many lawyers left their legal profession and dedicated themselves to the nation.

The Chief Justice told the journalists, “On the occasion of Independence Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all of you, our fellow journalists. Through you, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the entire country, especially to those associated with law, on Independence Day. This is a day to remind us of our duties towards each other and towards the nation.” Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal was also present at the flag hoisting ceremony. He said that the Constitution is supreme. “The Chief Justice had said a few days ago that the Constitution is supreme. If it is imbibed by the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, then India will become a developed nation.”
