Tata has started 2022 with a bang by recently launching the CNG versions of its compact hatchback Tiago and Tigor sedan. But it looks like Tata Motors is not going to stop here, as the test mule of the Tata Nexon was recently spotted coming out of a CNG pump in Pune. While Tata is yet to comment on the upcoming car, the spy images that have surfaced suggest that Tata is also working on a CNG model of the Nexon.
The official test mule of the Tata Nexon was spotted by a member of TeamBHP. According to which the red colored Nexon was going through a CNG-filling station. On the other hand, it can be seen in the pictures that the car is fitted with a red color number plate, which is usually used by automakers for testing on open roads. There is no doubt that Tata Motors is already in an aggressive juncture for the Indian car market.
May be the first car equipped with 4 engine options
At the same time, Tata will update its lineup to register its strength in the CNG space. These will include Nexon, Altroz and Punch. Since the Nexon is the oldest of the three, we expect the CNG model to be launched before the end of 2022. If this happens, the Tata Nexon will become the only car in the Indian car market to be offered in four fuel options – petrol, diesel, CNG and electric.

Will get 1.2-litre petrol engine
The Tata Nexon CNG was also spotted earlier during its test run in India. However, then the car was completely covered. Currently, the Tata Nexon is available in two engine options apart from the electric version. In which the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. It is likely that the Tata Nexon CNG will be available for the 1.2-litre petrol engine.
