Tax Collection 2022-23: Amidst rising prices of petrol and diesel, the government has succeeded on one front. Not only has there been a spurt in economic activities after the Corona pandemic, but due to it, there has also been an increase in tax collection. According to the data released by the government, there has been a tremendous jump of 45 percent in the direct tax collection in the financial year 2022-23. Direct tax collection till June 16, 2022 has been Rs 3,39,225 crore. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said, “The figures of direct tax collections for the financial year 2022-23 up to June 16, 2022 show that the net collections increased to Rs 3,39,225 crore as compared to Rs 3,39,225 crore in the corresponding period last year.” 2,33,651 crore was Rs. In this way it has increased by 45 percent.

Which tax collection?
- Direct Tax Collection (Total) – Rs 3,39,225 crore
- Corporate Tax – Rs 1,70,583 crore
- Personal Income Tax + Security Transaction Tax – Rs 1,67,960 crore
- Refund – Rs 30,334 crore
Direct tax collection before adjusting for refunds in 2022-23 stood at Rs 3,69,559 crore. This is 40 per cent more than last year’s Rs 2,64,382 crore. At the same time, direct tax collection was Rs 1,25,065 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 1,67,432 crore in 2019-20.
Advance tax collection for the first quarter of 2022-23 also stood at Rs 1,01,017 crore, an increase of 33 per cent over the previous year. Similarly, till June 16, the TDS collection for the year 2022-23 stood at Rs 2,29,676 crore, which is 46 percent more than the previous year. There has been a jump of 41 per cent in self-assessment tax from Rs 15,483 crore to Rs 21,849 crore.
