Dausa. Hariyali Teej, considered to be the cultural soul of Rajasthan, is heard in the streets of Dausa. The markets have returned to the market and every street has become buzzing with the crowd of buyers. Especially Ghevar shops are getting special movement these days.
Ghevar sales are at its peak in major markets like Halwai Bazaar, Kanna Market, Barkat Tiraha, Gandhi Tiraha, New Mandi Road, Gupteshwar Road, Santhal Mor and Somnath Chauraha. Long queues of customers outside the shops and the busyness of the artisans inside are indicated that Teej is about to rain sweetness.
This time there is a lot of demand for Paneer Ghevar, Malai Ghevar, Milk Ghevar and Plain Ghevar on Teej, but the most discussed is the famous Babbar Ghevar of Dausa, which is prepared in desi ghee. Its unique taste and traditional sweetness are attracting customers a lot.
The preparation of the festival is not limited to sweets only. Crowds are also thronging the shops of clothes, jewelery, vermilion, bangles, mehndi and makeup in the markets. Due to the tradition of sending newlyweds to Sinjara, people are also shopping loudly for cosmetics and fruits with ghevar.
This time the good monsoon rains have brought even more beauty to the faces of the people. The festival of Teej with greenery has brought glee in both homes and markets. In this season of festivals, the sweetness, tradition and culture of Dausa is once again spreading color.
