The fifth phase of elections is to be held tomorrow i.e. on February 27 for 61 seats in 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Most of the religious districts are involved in this phase. Ayodhya or Kumbh city Prayagraj, Buddha’s city Kaushambi or Lord Rama’s Karmabhoomi Chitrakoot has been in discussion for many decades. Polling is to be held in this phase in all these districts.
The fifth phase of voting in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections will be held on Sunday. In this phase, voting will begin on one seat in Rae Bareli district along with Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Barabanki, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Amethi, Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti and Sultanpur districts. This time 693 candidates are in the fray for 61 seats in these 12 districts. Maximum 25 candidates are contesting from Pratappur seat of Prayagraj. First know what happened in these seats in 2017?
In 2017, out of the 61 seats for which elections are to be held, 47 were won by Bharatiya Janata Party candidates. Three seats went to the account of Apna Dal (Sonelal) with BJP alliance. Samajwadi Party candidates won five seats and Bahujan Samaj Party candidates on three. Two seats were won by independent candidates. In this, one was Raja Bhaiya, who was called Bahubali of UP, and on the other was Vinod Sonkar, who was considered close to him. One seat also went to the account of Congress.
1. Sirathu : Sirathu seat of Kaushambi district is the hottest seat of this phase. The BJP has fielded the state’s deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya from here. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda have reached Sirathu for Keshav’s campaign. Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Pallavi Patel, sister of cabinet minister Anupriya Patel and leader of Apna Dal (Communist) in the Modi government. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav himself has campaigned for Pallavi. According to the caste equation, Sirathu has a large number of Patel and Muslim voters. At the same time, Bahujan Samaj Party has made Munsab Ali as the Muslim face and Congress has made Seema Devi as its candidate. In 2017, this seat was won by BJP’s Sheetla Prasad.
2. Ayodhya : In this election, not only UP, but the eyes of the whole country are on Ayodhya seat. There was also discussion about contesting the election of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from here. However, later BJP has fielded Ved Prakash from here. The SP alliance has reposed confidence in former minister Tej Narayan alias Pawan Pandey. BSP has given ticket to Ravi Prakash and Congress to Rita. In 2017, this seat went to BJP’s account.
3. Swivel : From here, Bahubali leader Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya is in the fray. Raja Bhaiya has been winning continuously since 1993. Gulshan Yadav has been made a candidate for this seat from the SP alliance. Gulshan has once been special to Raja Bhaiya. BJP has given ticket to Sindhuja Mishra and BSP to Mohammad Faheem. Congress has fielded Yogesh Kumar.
4. Allahabad West : Yogi government minister Siddharth Nath Singh is in the fray from here. The Samajwadi Party has fielded former Allahabad University student union president Richa Singh against Siddharth. BSP has given ticket to Ghulam Qadir and Congress has given ticket to Taslim Uddin. In 2017, Siddharth Nath Singh of BJP won from here.
5. Allahabad South : From here the Bharatiya Janata Party has again fielded minister Nand Gopal Gupta alias Nandi. Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Brahmin candidate Rais Chandra Shukla against Nandi. BSP has fielded Devendra Mishra Nagarha and Congress has fielded Alpana Nishad. Nandi of BJP won from here in 2017.
6. Rampur Khas : Rampur Khas seat of Pratapgarh is also very important. From here, Congress has again fielded its senior leader Pramod Tiwari’s daughter Aradhana Mishra Mona. Mona had won this seat in 2017 as well. Against Mona, BJP has given ticket to Nagesh Pratap Singh alias Chhote Sarkar. Bankelal Patel is in the fray from BSP’s side. At the same time, the Samajwadi Party has not fielded a candidate in this seat in support of Mona.
7. Pratapgarh : Apna Dal (Communist) President Krishna Patel is in the fray from here. Krishna Patel is contesting this time with the Samajwadi Party. Krishna Patel’s own daughter and minister in the central government Anupriya Patel is not made. There was a fight between the two over the party, after which the Apna Dal split into two. One part is now being commanded by Krishna Patel and his daughter Pallavi Patel, while the other part is in the hands of Anupriya Patel. Congress has fielded Neeraj Tripathi and BSP has fielded Ashutosh Tripathi from here. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has given ticket to Rajendra Kumar from here. 8. Jagdishpur (SC) : From this seat of Amethi, the BJP has reposed confidence in the Minister of State in the Yogi government, Suresh Pasi. Suresh is the Minister of State for Sugarcane Development in the Yogi government. The Samajwadi Party has fielded Vimlesh Kumari, BSP’s Jitendra Kumar and Congress’s Vijay Kumar against Suresh. In 2017 also Suresh had won this seat.
9. Mankapur (SC) : From this seat falling in Gonda district, BJP has again fielded cabinet minister Ramapati Shastri in the Yogi government. Ramapati is the Social Welfare Minister in the Yogi government. Against him, Samajwadi Party has nominated Ramesh Chandra, BSP Shyam Narayan, and Congress Santosh Kumari as its candidate. In 2017, this seat was won by Ramapati Shastri.
10. Chitrakoot : From here, the BJP has reposed confidence in the minister of state in the Yogi government, Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay. Against Chandrika, Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Anil Pradhan, BSP to Pushpendra Singh and Congress to Nirmala Bharti.
