New Delhi: Tesla chief and one of the richest people in the world, Elon Musk, has postponed his much-awaited visit to India. SpaceX founder Elon Musk was to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Explaining the reason for postponing the India tour, Musk said that he is very busy with the company’s work right now. “Unfortunately the India trip has been delayed due to Tesla obligations, but I’m very much looking forward to the trip later this year,” Elon Musk wrote on Twitter.
Had to meet PM Modi
Last week Musk had said that he was going to India where he would meet PM Modi. It was expected that Elon Musk would announce an investment of 2-3 billion dollars to build a factory in India. Earlier it was told that other officials of the company could also come to India along with Musk.
Met PM Modi in America last year
In June last year, Musk met PM Modi during his US visit. At that time Musk had said that he planned to visit India in 2024. He also expressed confidence that Tesla will soon enter the Indian market. A few weeks before his upcoming visit to India, the government has announced a new electric vehicle policy. Under this, import duty concessions will be given to companies setting up manufacturing units in the country with a minimum investment of $500 million. The move is aimed at attracting major global companies like Tesla.
