Craig Brathwaite
A three-Test series will be played between West Indies and England in July. The first Test against England will start on July 10 at Lord’s. The second Test will be held on June 18 at Trent Bridge and the third Test will be held on June 26 at Edgbaston. West Indies has not won any Test series on English soil since 1988. Craig Brathwaite has been made the captain of the West Indies team. Many players have also been shown the way out of the team.
These players did not get a chance
Opener batsman Tegnarayan Chandrapaul could not perform well against Australia and he could score only 31 runs in four innings. For this reason, he has been dropped from the squad. In his place, Michael Lewis, the highest run scorer in the 2023-24 season of the West Indies Championship, has got a chance. Justin Greaves, who took part in both the Test matches in the series against Australia, has also been dropped. Akeem Jordan has also not been able to make a place in the team.
Jason Holder is back
Jason Holder and Jaden Seals have got a chance in the West Indies squad for the Test series. Both these players did not get a chance in the series against Australia in January. Holder opted to play for Dubai Capitals in ILT20. But now he has performed well in domestic cricket. He was recently out of the West Indies T20 team due to injury. But it is expected that he will be fit to play in the Test series.
West Indies chief selector said this
West Indies team chief selector Desmond Haynes said that the team has been prepared with both experience and emerging talent, ensuring a strong balance as we face the challenge of playing in English conditions. After our victory in the last Test in Australia in January, it is clear that we are doing well. We hope that we will do well against England.
