Recently, the Bihar government had increased the reservation limit for the underprivileged sections of the state from 50 percent to 65 percent. However, the Patna High Court had cancelled the decision to increase the reservation. The Patna High Court had cancelled it calling it unconstitutional. Now the Bihar government has approached the Supreme Court against this decision of the High Court. The Supreme Court has also agreed to hear the petition of the Bihar government. Refusal to stay High Court verdict

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the petition of the Bihar government but has refused to stay the order of the Patna High Court which annulled the Bihar government’s decision to increase reservation. Let us tell you that the Bihar government had earlier also said that it would go to the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court. Now the Supreme Court will hear this case.

Hearing will be held in September

The Supreme Court has accepted the petition of the Bihar government against the decision of the Patna High Court on the limit of reservation. The Supreme Court will hear this matter in detail in September. However, after the refusal to stay the decision of the Patna High Court, it has become clear that the ban on increasing the limit of reservation in Bihar will remain in place.

50 to 65 percent reservation was announced

Let us tell you that last year the Bihar government had made a provision to increase the scope of reservation in admissions in educational institutions and government jobs for SC/ST, OBC and economically backward people from 50 to 65 percent. This decision was taken after conducting a caste survey in Bihar.
