New Delhi. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday approved eight National High Speed Corridor projects of 936 km length with a total cost of Rs 50,655 crore. PM Modi gave this information on the social media platform ‘X’. PM Modi wrote in a post on ‘X’, “The Cabinet has approved 8 national high speed road projects costing more than Rs 50,000 crore. This will give impetus to the country’s economy and create new employment opportunities. This decision also reflects our commitment to prepare India for the future and provide better connectivity to the country.”
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on this occasion that 140 crore countrymen have given a historic mandate to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, 8 major national highway projects have been approved across the country. These are projects worth about 50 thousand crores, which have been built keeping Vision 2047 in mind. A large number of devotees are coming to visit Ayodhya.
He said that for the all-round development of Ayodhya, the project of Major Ring Road has been approved. Ring road for Guwahati city and highway for Pune have been approved. Corridor is being built from Pathal village to Gumla for Raipur and Ranchi. Highway to connect Delhi Mumbai Express in Gujarat from Tharad to Ahmedabad and highway of Rajasthan is also included in it. Four lane highway will be built from Kharagpur to Murshidabad. Apart from this, highway connecting Agra to Gwalior and 6 lane ring road around Kanpur are also included in it.
The projects that received Cabinet approval include the six-lane Agra-Gwalior National High-Speed Corridor, the four-lane Kharagpur-Morgram National High-Speed Corridor and the six-lane Tharad-Deesa-Mehsana-Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor.
Out of these 8 projects, 3 projects are for Uttar Pradesh.
First: 6 lane Agra-Gwalior National High-Speed Corridor
After the completion of this high speed corridor, the journey between Agra and Gwalior will be completed in half the time. The Union Cabinet has approved Rs 4,613 crore for this 88 km long 6 lane high speed corridor.
Second: Permission given to develop Ayodhya ring road
The 68 km 4-lane Ayodhya Ring Road will be developed in hybrid mode at a total capital cost of Rs 3,935 crore. The ring road will reduce the congestion on national highways passing through the city, such as NH 27 (East West Corridor), NH 227A, NH 227B. The construction of this ring road will enable faster movement of pilgrims coming to visit Ram Mandir. The ring road will also provide better connectivity to national and international tourists coming from Lucknow International Airport, Ayodhya Airport and major railway stations of the city.
Third: Approval of Kanpur Ring Road
A total of Rs 3,298 crore has been sanctioned for developing this 47 km 6-lane ring road. This section will complete the 6-lane national highway ring around Kanpur. The ring road will facilitate long-distance traffic coming from the city to major national highways, such as NH 19, NH 27 – East West Corridor, NH 34 and the upcoming Lucknow – Kanpur Expressway and Ganga Expressway, thereby enhancing logistics facilities for freight movement between Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
