First Indigenous Surgical Robot Mantra: The team of doctors has done wonders in the field of telesurgery and telemedicine. For the first time in the country, a team of doctors sitting far away has performed a successful operation through the surgical robot ‘Mantra’ prepared with indigenous technology. Mantra robot has become a big partner in this and in the coming time, it is likely to bring a revolution in the field of telesurgery. In fact, a trained team of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center (RGCIRC) of Gurgaon has successfully operated on a patient in the operation theater of Rohini, Delhi, 40 kilometers away from here. Fiber optic cable i.e. the strong cord of the Internet has also played an important role in making the Mantra robot capable. The patient’s operation for urinary bladder cancer was done under the leadership of the institute’s medical director surgeon Dr. SK Rawal. It took 45 minutes to perform this operation.
The mantra will be a boon for small towns
According to the TOI report, Dr. SK Rawal said that such a complex surgery has been done for the first time in the country through the Mantra robot. The Made in India surgical robot Mantra has done a wonderful job in this and in the coming time, this robot can bring revolutionary changes for the remote cities of the country. Through this robot, surgeons skilled in their field can operate on the patient from anywhere. This technology has eliminated the need for doctors to stay near the patient.
How to make a mantra
In fact, surgical robots of international companies are very expensive. Therefore, there is a lot of difficulty in delivering them to small cities or remote areas. Keeping this problem in mind, cardiac surgeon Dr. Sudhir Srivastava has developed this surgical robot. This robot is very cheap and it is expected that through this robot, operations of needy people in small cities can be done successfully. Expert surgeons can successfully operate on troubled patients from any part of the country.
What disease was the patient suffering from
According to the report, a 52-year-old Delhi man was suffering from urinary bladder cancer. He was kept in an operation theatre in Rohini and the operation was done there through this Mantra robot. During this procedure, the team of doctors, with the help of guided robotic arms, cut and removed the patient’s urinary bladder and the lymph nodes on the side of the bladder. Due to advanced technology, the doctors took care of every millimetre with utmost precision. Due to this Mantra robot, the patient has to make an incision of only 4 to 5 centimetres, whereas if a doctor does the operation manually, then an incision of 15 to 20 centimetres will have to be made.
