New Delhi. The country’s five major leftist parties have raised their voice against the atrocities being committed by Israel on Palestinians and have demanded the Indian government to take strict action against Israel. In a joint statement, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India (CPI), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), All India Forward Block (AIFB), and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)-Liberation (CPI-ML) have demanded the Indian government to immediately cancel all export licenses and permissions supplying arms and ammunition to Israel.
The leftist parties have demanded recognition of a Palestinian state with its pre-1947 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital. They have condemned the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza, calling it genocide and said that such acts are in violation of UN resolutions and International Court of Justice (ICJ) decisions.
These parties said, “We urge the citizens of India to express their solidarity with the people of Palestine.” They have appealed to the Indian government to end all military cooperation with Israel, demanding a military ban on Israel. Before this incident, tensions between Israel and Iran have increased after the killing of Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukar and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. Israel is being held responsible for this murder and Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has talked about taking revenge from Israel.
In their statement, the leftist parties have also strongly condemned the genocide and atrocities being committed by Israel with the support of America. They said that India should reconsider its diplomatic relations and impose sanctions on Israel immediately. These parties believe that protecting the rights of Palestinians and standing in their support is a global responsibility, and India should play an active role in this.
