Shimla: The country’s longest ropeway is going to be built in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. A seminar was organized on Wednesday regarding this 14 kilometer long ropeway project. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the Shimla ropeway is a very ambitious project and this state will be able to show the way to the country in the world of ropeways. Around 220 trolleys will be installed in the country’s longest ropeway and 14 stoppages will be made. He said that this is the country’s longest and the world’s second longest ropeway. Let us tell you that the 33-34 kilometer ropeway in Bolivia’s capital La Paz is the longest.

‘Tourists from all over the world visit Shimla in large numbers’

Agnihotri said, ‘The estimated cost of the ropeway will be Rs 1,734 crore. Shimla is famous all over the world. Tourists from all over the world come here in large numbers. The ropeway will relieve the city of its road traffic problems. Now the time has come to turn to other models of transport. This project of the Himachal government is being taken forward at a fast pace. All the approvals have been received from the central government and the state government. The government has also held talks with the bank. All the big companies from around the world are being invited to bid for the project.’

‘The tender will be finalized by the end of the year’

The Deputy Chief Minister said that this is a big project and it will take about 4 years. He said, ‘The tender for the project will be finalized by the end of this year. The government will try its best to complete half the work of this project in 2 years and provide quick facilities to the public. Apart from this, work is also going on on the power project of Kullu. Projects are also going on for the temple in Dev Bhoomi. Baba Balak Nath, Baglamukhi and Jakhu are all becoming the center of attraction. The government is giving priority to all these projects.’ (IANS)
