Foreigner Amid strength in the markets, mustard oil-oilseeds, soybean oil and cottonseed oil prices showed moderate strength on Thursday in the country’s edible oil-oilseeds market. While amid normal business, the prices of soybean oilseeds, groundnut oilseeds, crude palm oil (CPO) and palmolein remained unchanged. There is a slight improvement in Malaysia and Chicago Exchange. Sources said that a delegation of the country’s leading edible oil organization ‘SOPA’ met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan and apprised him of the situation of the country’s oilseeds industry. The delegation said that the condition of the country’s oilseeds industry is very bad and this situation is very harmful.
Loss to oilseed farmers
The domestic oilseed industry and oilseed farmers are suffering serious losses due to the cheap wholesale price of imported edible oils. According to sources, 130.68 lakh tonnes of edible oils were imported in the country in the year 2021, which increased to 158.37 lakh tonnes in the year 2023. Sources said that if the government wants to increase oilseed production in the country, then it will have to curb the confusion spread through the news media. Such analysts promote imports by citing the rising oil prices.

- Mustard Pakki Ghani – Rs 1,870-1,970 per tin.
- Mustard Crude Oil – Rs 1,870-1,995 per tin.
- Sesame Oil Mill Delivery – Rs 18,900-21,000 per quintal.
- Soybean oil mill delivery Delhi – Rs 10,150 per quintal.
- Soybean mill delivery Indore – Rs 9,800 per quintal.
- Soybean oil Degum, Kandla – Rs 8,425 per quintal.
