South Korean automaker Kia Motors unveiled its new car Carens in India last week. Carrence made the world premiere of this car in the Indian market and incidentally India is the only manufacturing center of Carrence for both domestic and export purposes.

Toyota Innova Crysta may get tougher
Talking about the dimensions of the Kia Carens, it is based on the stretched version of the Creta and Seltos platforms, just like the Hyundai Alcazar. Its length is 4,540 mm, width is 1,800 mm, height is 1,700 mm and wheelbase is 2,780 mm. Compared to the Seltos, the Carens is 225 mm longer and 80 mm higher, while its wheelbase is 160 mm longer. Overall, it can be said that the Carrier has the longest wheelbase in this segment, which is 30 mm longer than the Toyota Innova Crysta, though the Innova Crysta is longer when it comes to the overall length.

What’s the report on the price
The Kia Carens is expected to be priced similar to the Hyundai Alcazar in the Indian car market, which clearly means that it could be launched between Rs.16-20 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Kia Carense will slot between the Maruti XL6 and the Toyota Innova Crysta. However, it will take on the Hyundai Alcazar and other similarly priced SUV’s in this range.
Engine options and gearbox
The Kia Carense gets the option of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. In which the first 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generates 115hp power and 144Nm torque, while the second 1.4 turbo petrol engine has been given, which will only be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine generates 140hp power and 242Nm torque.

Along with this, its diesel variant will include a 1.5-litre unit. Making 115hp power and 250Nm of peak torque, this engine will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
