610 cases of new variant of corona virus ‘XBB 1.16’ were reported in the country. This information has been obtained from the data of ‘Indian SARS-Cov-2 Genomics Consortium’ (INSACOG). According to these figures, all these cases have been found in 11 states and union territories. According to the data, the maximum number of cases of the new variant have been found in Maharashtra at 164 followed by Gujarat at 164, Telangana at 93, Karnataka at 86. According to INSACOG data, the new variant ‘XBB 1.16’ was confirmed in two samples in January.
