Srinagar. The date of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir can be announced anytime. Political parties have become active regarding this. BJP leaders are also continuously visiting different areas and meeting the public. BJP’s senior vice president and former minister Shyam Lal Sharma reached Mendhar in Poonch on Saturday. Here he met party workers and other people. This tour was based on his discussion with the people on the election manifesto because he is a member of the election manifesto in Rajouri Poonch.
While talking to journalists, Shyam Lal Sharma said that the BJP will not repeat the mistake it made earlier. In the upcoming Jammu Kashmir assembly elections, BJP will contest on all seats. Let us tell you that recently the Election Commission was on a tour of Jammu Kashmir for the assembly elections. During this, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that we will conduct assembly elections in the state soon.
He said that many internal forces think that we will influence the elections. We are sure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will give a befitting reply to the divisive forces. All political parties are in favour of holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir soon. The people of Kashmir have chosen democracy, peace and harmony. The criteria for participation of candidates and vote percentage have been decided by the people here. Now we have the challenge of taking that standard forward. Now we have to build a tall building on the foundation that you have built. We have to reach a new destination and a new sky.
Farooq Abdullah will visit Chenab Valley
On the other hand, a day after the Election Commission announced that assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir ‘as soon as possible’, the National Conference (NC) on Saturday said that the party is taking decisive steps to connect the grassroots workers and ensure strong election preparations. A NC spokesperson said that party president and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah is scheduled to visit the Chenab Valley comprising Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Jammu region on Sunday to hold several meetings with party workers.
The spokesperson said that the visit of the party president underlines the party’s commitment to maintain direct contact with the grassroots workers and organize them for the upcoming election battle. The party spokesperson said, “The primary objective of the upcoming meetings is to prepare party workers and supporters for the assembly elections. Abdullah is expected to have in-depth discussions with party workers, provide strategic guidance and emphasize the importance of active participation at the grassroots level.”
It is worth noting that in December 2023, the Supreme Court had given instructions to conduct assembly elections in the Union Territory by 30 September 2024. Elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir after a gap of ten years. The last assembly elections were held in 2014.
