Big news is coming about Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat. After Vinesh was disqualified in the Paris Olympics, the hearing on the appeal filed in the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has been completed and now the decision can come at any time. According to the report, the hearing of Vinesh Phogat’s appeal against the decision of the United World Wrestling (UWW) is now complete. The decision on whether Vinesh will get the Olympic silver medal or not is expected soon. It is believed that the decision in Vinesh’s case can come today in the next few hours or even tomorrow. The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) had already said that the decision would be taken before the end of the Paris Olympics.
29-year-old Vinesh was representing India in wrestling in the 50 kg weight category in the Paris Olympics. Vinesh wrestled brilliantly and made it to the semi-finals after defeating Japan’s legendary wrestler Yui Susaki, where she defeated Cuban wrestler Lopez to make it to the finals and create history. Vinesh became the first Indian female athlete to reach the finals of wrestling in the Olympics. After this, the whole country was expecting a gold medal from her. At least a silver medal was certain for her, but on the day of the final, when the news of Vinesh being disqualified spread like wildfire, everyone was heartbroken.
Let us tell you, Vinesh tried her best to reduce her weight the whole night before the day of the final match. For this, she even skipped food and cut her hair. Not only this, she spent the whole night exercising so that her weight could be reduced below 50 kg but it could not happen. Despite trying all the tricks, Vinesh’s weight turned out to be 100 grams more. After this, the Indian wrestler was declared disqualified.
