New York: Students in many parts of America are protesting against the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. Last week, students of the ‘New York Ivy League’ school started a protest against Israel, which turned into a major movement by Tuesday. The protest has intensified with the arrest on Thursday of more than 100 students protesting on the Manhattan campus of Columbia University.
Online class will be organized
Police have arrested dozens of protesters from various places. Due to rising tensions in Colombia, the university has decided to conduct online classes for the remaining semester. Police said 133 people protesting near New York University on Monday were arrested, but were later released. A summons was issued to appear in court. New York City Mayor Eric Adams said protesters attacked police officers with bottles and other objects during protests this week.
Students refused to stop the protest
Students at Yale University in Connecticut refused to stop the demonstration, after which police arrested 60 protesters, including 47 students. Yale University President Peter Salovey reported that the students were asked to end the demonstration and meet with the trustees, but they rejected the offer. They were asked several times to end the protest but they did not agree, after which the police arrested the students.
Police arrested the students
Protesters set up more than 30 camps on the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus, but the protests intensified Tuesday after police cleared a camp set up in front of the library within hours of police action. After this the police arrested nine students. (AP)
