On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, the wedding day of Lord Mahadev and Mother Parvati, the wedding procession of Lord Shiva will be celebrated with great pomp in the district. Amidst the auspicious coincidence of planets and transits, there will be queues of devotees to offer water, fruits and flowers to Lord Bholenath in the pagodas. At more than half a dozen places in the city, Lord Shiva’s royal procession will come out with a beautiful adornment of Lord Mahadev, in which devotees will be involved in the process of becoming a wedding procession and shouting Bum-Bam Bhole. A day before Shivratri, Lord Shiva was offered turmeric, sandalwood and oil in the temples, after which the devotees danced fiercely.
Fasting on Mahashivratri brings good luck and prosperity. The day before Shivratri, the preparations for the pavilion and the construction of the Shivalinga continued in the pagodas. In most of the Shiva temples in the city, turmeric was offered to Lord Bholenath and Goddess Parvati amidst wedding songs. According to astrologer Pt. Shivprasad Tiwari, this time there will be a rare coincidence on Mahashivratri. One day before Shivratri i.e. on 28th February, Monday and on this day Som Pradosh fast will be observed. There will be special worship rituals till Mahashivratri on March 1 and Amavasya on March 2. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were married on this day and Bholenath had renounced his detachment and adopted a householder’s life. Keeping fast on this day brings good luck.
How to worship on Shivratri
Mahashivratri of Falgun month is considered as one of the biggest Shivaratri of the year. On this day, one should take a bath in the Brahma Muhurta, then a Kalash filled with water should be established at the place of worship in the house and then later the idols of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati should be established near the Kalash. After this, Akshat, betel leaf, betel nut, roli, molly, sandalwood, clove, cardamom, milk, curd, honey, ghee, datura, belpatra, lotus and fruits should be offered to Lord Shiva and mother Parvati. In the end, aarti should be performed to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.

On the day of Mahashivratri, this time Panchagrahi Yoga is also being formed, which is believed to fulfill the desire. On Tuesday, along with the combination of Venus, Mars, Mercury, Moon, Saturn in Capricorn, Kedar Yoga will also be formed, which is very beneficial for worship. The coincidence of Shiva worship will start from Pradosh on 28 February i.e. Monday. Due to this there will be worship rituals for three days. There will be Mahashivratri on March 1 and Amavasya on March 2. On this day, devotees will complete the rituals by worshiping. There will be many religious rituals in the Bhuteshwar Shiva temple of the district, Bade Shiva temple of Baheria, Gaurishankar temple, Pashupatinath temple. At the same time, Shivling will be constructed in BMC’s Mrityunjay Mahadev temple from 7 am.

On the occasion of Mahashivratri, there will be chants of Lord Shiva throughout the day. In the evening, the marriage ceremony of Shiva-Parvati will be celebrated. The procession of Lord Shiva Parvati will be taken out from more than half a dozen places in the city, in which the devotees will take out the tableau wearing the guise of ghosts, vampires, Gan, Gandharva etc. Shivaji’s procession, which will be taken out by the Mahakal Hindu organization in the city, will be the center of attraction for the residents of the city. Welcome pandals have also been decorated with special decorations on Barat Marg. Thousands of devotees are expected to attend the procession. Shiva-Parvati were anointed with turmeric-sandalwood and oil in the ancient Mankandeshwar temple of the city on Monday, due to which the face of Lord Shiva shone. Applying Ubtan also made up as a groom and also worshiped with congratulatory songs and hymns, women also applied turmeric to each other in the ritual of turmeric. Temple committee president Shailesh Kesharwani said that on Tuesday, after the havan-worship, a procession of Shiva will come out, which will be welcomed everywhere. At the same time, Satyam Gujarya told that the procession will reach Nageshwar temple through the main roads of the city, where the marriage of Shiva and Mother Parvati will take place. The next day the procession will return to the temple premises.

The Shiva procession to be taken out by the Kanch Mandir Macharai Samiti will go to the Shridev Bhuteshwar temple. Advance booking of horse, buggy, band all have been done here. This time the famous musical instrument of Bundelkhand, Ramtula will be played mainly in the procession. The procession will be attended by ghosts, vampires, Nandi and their devotees in various costumes. On Monday, devotees danced fiercely by applying turmeric to Lord Bholenath in the Shiva temple located at Kaneradeo. Attractive decoration has been done in the temple of Bholenath here. On Tuesday, the procession of Bholenath will come out with pomp, in which many devotees will be involved. From the Barat Shiva temple, Bidi Colony, via Kali Mata Temple, will return to the Shiva temple, Kanerdev, where Shiva’s marriage will take place. At the same time, from Shridev Dhaneshwar temple, the procession will go to Chameli Chowk Mahakali temple. Apart from this, a procession of Shiva will be taken out on Mahashivratri from Gurdasmal Shiv temple in Sindhi camp. Organizer Nirmal Bhole told that many band parties including ghosts and vampires will be involved in the procession.
