Many interesting contests were seen in this election. In Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar failed to save his wife’s seat as he did not get the support of his uncle. An interesting case has come to light from Odisha. Where the son won the assembly elections, but the father had to face defeat.
The matter is of Odisha. Here senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das was in the fray from Narla assembly seat. He was defeated by Biju Janata Dal’s Manorama Mohanty by 5,205 votes. Whereas Bhakta Charan Das’s son Sagar Charan Das won from Bhawanipatna assembly seat. Congress candidate Sagar defeated BJP candidate Pradipta Kumar Naik by 13,741 votes. After the results, both these seats are being discussed a lot.
According to the data released late night by the Election Commission, BJP has won or is leading in 78 seats here. While the ruling BJD has got success in 51 seats. Congress has been successful in registering victory in 14 seats here. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is trailing by 14,299 votes from BJP’s Laxman Beg in Kantabanji assembly seat in Bolangir district. However, in Hinjili seat of Ganjam district, he is ahead of BJP candidate Shishir Kumar Mishra by a margin of 4,649 votes.
