Hyderabad. A passenger was arrested for trying to open the door of an IndiGo flight mid-air just before it landed at the airport in Hyderabad. According to the police, the 29-year-old passenger had allegedly consumed ‘bhaang’ before boarding the flight. He also argued with the airline staff minutes before the flight landed at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
The man was arrested following a complaint lodged by airline staff. The incident took place on May 21, but came to light on May 24. When the flight departed from Indore, the crew noticed the man’s unusual behaviour and made him sit on another seat. After a while, he insisted on sitting next to his two friends with whom he had gone to Indore on a pilgrimage.
According to a TOI report, he behaved normally for some time after the crew relented, but later misbehaved with a passenger. After seeing his ‘strange’ behaviour, the airline staff and some co-passengers tried to stop him from opening the door. The accused Anil Patil, a resident of Chandragirinagar in Gajularamaram, had gone to Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh with his friends.
Patil is reportedly suffering from “health issues” and his medical report has been submitted. Taking this into account, he was granted bail from the station, a police officer from the RGI Airport police station said on Friday.
