Role of JPC on Wakf Act

This JPC has been formed regarding the Waqf Act Amendment Bill, whose main objective is to determine whether the proposed changes in the Waqf Act are correct or not. The committee will submit its report to the government, but it is not necessary that the government accepts the recommendations of this report. However, this committee will thoroughly review various aspects of the Waqf Act and present recommendations. The Rajya Sabha has recommended the nomination of 10 members to consider the Waqf Amendment Bill. This will include eight MPs from the Bharatiya Janata Party and three from the Congress. Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced this proposal in the House, which was approved by voice vote.
