A shocking incident has come to light from Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, where the procession reached a very embarrassing turn to the wedding pavilion. The groom was ready to take seven rounds after Varmala, but on a condition – he will not marry till he gets two lakh rupees in cash. When the girl’s father refused to accept the demand, the groom and his family created a ruckus, abused and returned with the procession after assault.
Varmala took place, but the groom dominates before the round
The case is from Udharanpur village of Revatipur police station area, where on April 16, a young woman was married to Durgesh Kumar, a resident of Tadighat in Suhwal police station area. The procession came with pomp, the band and the ceremony of Varmala was also performed. But when the turn came for seven rounds, then the groom started demanding Rs 2 lakh in cash and a car.
‘Give money if you want to get married, otherwise the procession will return’
When the girl’s father politely said that lakhs of rupees have already been spent in the wedding, and it is not possible to give so much cash, then the matter deteriorated. The groom spoke in indecent language, and his family started fighting with abuses. The boy’s family even threatened that if the police was informed, he would lose his life.
Bride showed courage, filed case
After this derogatory and emotional trauma, the bride showed courage and lodged a complaint against eight people including the groom at the police station. The police have registered a case and started investigation. The bride has clearly said that she will not let this injustice go like this.
