Getting a tattoo increases the risk of cancer in your lymphatic system by 21%. This study was done by Swedish scientists and the data of 11,905 people was analyzed in it. This is not the first time that a link between tattoo and cancer has come to light. Earlier, some studies had revealed that the ink used for tattoos can also cause serious diseases in the body.
The researchers of this study say that we already know that when tattoo ink is injected into the skin, the body perceives it as something foreign and our immune system becomes active. A large portion of the ink is carried away from the skin to the lymph nodes, where it accumulates. The consequences can be fatal. The study team found that diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is a rapidly growing cancer that begins in white blood cells. Lymphoma is a rare disease that can kill people.
