BSNL Customers Count: Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea had increased the prices of all their recharge plans in early July. After the country’s major telecom companies made recharge plans expensive, customers started turning to the government telecom company BSNL as a new option. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Saturday that the number of customers of the government company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is increasing.
BSNL’s 4G network is ready, now work is going on on 5G
Scindia said that BSNL’s domestic 4G network is also ready and now the work of converting it into 5G is going on. The Union Minister said that under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, a 4G network with indigenous technology is ready and in a few months its services will be available across the country through BSNL. He said, “Many people had asked that when Jio, Airtel and Vodafone started 4G network, why did BSNL not do so? It was the resolution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if we have to develop the network of a government company, then we will not use the equipment of China or any other foreign country.”
India became the 5th country in the world with indigenous technology
The Union Telecom Minister said, “Prime Minister Modi has resolved under Aatmanirbhar Bharat that India will develop its own 4G stack, core system or towers which is called Radiation Access Network (RAN). India will develop its own technology and provide 4G network to the countrymen and it took us one and a half years. India has become the 5th country in the world to have its own indigenous technology. The work of installing towers is going on.”
One lakh towers will be installed by March 2025
He said that Indian companies like Tejas Network, C-Dot and TCS are working in different areas and BSNL is implementing it. The Union Minister said, “We will install 80,000 towers by the end of October and the remaining 21,000 towers will be installed by March next year. That is, one lakh towers of 4G network will be installed by March 2025.”
