While participating in the discussion on the General Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Anurag Thakur made sharp attacks on the Congress party. During this, in the context of the issue of caste census being continuously raised by Rahul Gandhi, he said that the one whose caste is not known talks about sugarcane. There was an uproar in the House over this. Then the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi said that he has insulted me. I have to speak. Insult me as much as you want.. do it a lot.. but one day we will pass the caste census here.
On this, Anurag Thakur again attacked Rahul Gandhi. He said that politics cannot be run with borrowed intelligence. He said that nowadays some people are obsessed with caste census. He again said that I had said that those who do not know about caste talk about sugarcane. I did not take anyone’s name.
Rahul said- I don’t want an apology
During this, there was a lot of uproar in the House. Then Rahul Gandhi stood up. He said that whoever raises the issues of Dalits, tribals, backward people in this country. Whoever fights for them. He has to face abuses. And I will happily take all these abuses. Because we talked about Mahabharata. In Mahabharata, Arjun was seeing the eye of a fish. Similarly, I am only seeing the eye of a fish. We will get the caste census done. We will happily take as many abuses as you want.
Then Rahul Gandhi said that Anurag Thakur has abused me. He has insulted me. But I do not want any apology from Anurag Thakur. There is no need for any apology. I am fighting the battle. You can abuse me as much as you want. I will not ask you to apologize.
Then Akhilesh Yadav stood up and said that I want to ask Anurag Thakur how did you ask about caste. How can you ask about caste. You ask about caste. Then Anurag Thakur started his speech again.
