Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who is constantly being ignored in Team India, has taken a big decision. Yuzvendra has taken the big step of going to England and playing county cricket. Chahal will be seen playing for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. Northamptonshire has signed the Indian leg-spinner for the remaining matches of the 2024 County Championship and ODI Cup seasons.

Northamptonshire County Cricket Club expressed happiness over Chahal joining the team and said that Indian international Yuzvendra Chahal will join the club for the final ODI Cup match in Kent and the remaining five matches of the County Championship. The leg-spinner will join the team before the trip to Canterbury on Wednesday (August 14) and will then be available for the rest of the red ball campaign. The club said in its statement that 34-year-old Chahal is the first player to take more than 200 wickets in IPL history and he brings a lot of experience to the county and is excited to work closely with his new teammates after the 2024 season.

Club head coach John Sadler is thrilled to have the Indian spinner in his team and hopes that he will bring additional variety and depth to the club’s bowling attack. He said, “Yuzvendra is a high-profile player who brings with him a lot of experience and incredible skills. His record speaks for itself and his wicket-taking ability will strengthen our attack.” Let us tell you, Chahal spent time with Kent in the 2023 season and took 9 wickets in two of his last three Division One matches.

The constant ignoring

Yuzvendra Chahal has not been a regular part of Team India in the last few years. In the recently played T20 World Cup, Chahal was included in the squad but he did not get a chance to play a single match. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav were given a chance in his place. Chahal played his last match for India on 13 August 2023 against West Indies.
