The price of tomatoes has exhausted the common man, you will be shocked to know the rate

Highlights

Tomato prices have been continuously increasing in the last few weeks. The prices of potatoes and onions are also increasing continuously.Prices are increasing due to supply chain being affected during monsoon.

New Delhi. Like every year, this year too, the shortage of tomatoes during the monsoon season has affected people’s pockets. Just a few weeks ago, tomatoes were available in Delhi’s markets for just Rs 20 per kg. The supply of tomatoes from different parts of the country to Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi has been badly affected due to rain. This is the reason why tomatoes were sold at a whopping Rs 100 per kg in the retail market on Saturday. Tomatoes are available at Rs 100 per kg at Mother Dairy’s retail outlet Safal in the national capital.

According to data released by the Department of Consumer Affairs, retail prices of tomatoes in Delhi reached Rs 93 per kg on Saturday, July 20. According to government data, the average price of tomatoes across the country on July 20 is Rs 73.76 per kg. Last week, a senior official of the department had blamed excessive heat and subsequent rain for the sharp rise in prices. It was said that due to bad weather, the supply of tomatoes has been affected in every part of the country.

Potato and onion are also making me cry…
The official had told PTI, “Prices of tomatoes, potatoes and onions are high in Delhi and some other cities. Due to extreme heat and subsequent excessive rains, supply was disrupted, which led to a surge in prices in consumer areas.” Onions were sold at Rs 46.90 per kg and potatoes at Rs 41.90 per kg at Mother Dairy stores in west Delhi on Saturday.

The prices of these vegetables also increased…
According to government data, the price of onion in Delhi is Rs 50 per kg and that of potato is Rs 40 per kg. The all India average price of onion is Rs 44.16 per kg and that of potato is Rs 37.22 per kg. Not just tomatoes, potatoes and onions, the prices of other green vegetables are also high. On Saturday, Mother Dairy bottle gourd is being sold at ₹ 59 per kg, bitter gourd at ₹ 49 per kg, beans at ₹ 89 per kg, ladyfinger at ₹ 49 per kg, tinda at ₹ 119 per kg, green capsicum at ₹ 119 per kg, eggplant (small) at ₹ 49 per kg.
