Leftover Rice Benefits: Sometimes we make such mistakes that we realize after many months or years have passed. The stale rice that we often throw in the dustbin, if seen from the point of view of science, is a lifesaver for gut health. This stale rice has so many benefits that you will be surprised to know about it. It is also easy to consume because our country is mainly a rice-based country and rice is consumed in every corner of the country. Most people in Japan do the same. They cook rice at night and keep it aside and in the morning they eat it lightly after heating it on an empty stomach. This is their habit. If we also do the same, then it can prove to be a boon for our gut health. Chief Dietician of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Dr. Mukta Vashisht Talked in detail about the benefits of this stale rice.
Starch resistance is a boon for gut health
Dr. Mukta Vashisht told that not one but many types of qualities increase in stale rice. First of all, it becomes an excellent probiotic. These probiotics go into the stomach i.e. gut and increase healthy bacteria, due to which these healthy bacteria strengthen our gut health. You should know that when our digestion is right, then the whole system of the body remains right. If the gut health is right, then the blood circulation in the body will be right and our heart will be healthy. Resistance starch increases in stale rice. Resistance starch is a type of fiber which is naturally found in many things. Its special thing is that it is not easily digested in the stomach. Therefore, as long as it remains in the intestine or gut, bacteria or stomach microbes keep eating it, during which its fermentation takes place and many types of compounds keep forming in this process. All this soothes the lining of the stomach and does not cause inflammation. In a way, it soothes the stomach so much that it affects the whole body.
lowers cholesterol and blood sugar
The biggest advantage of resistant starch is that it reduces the glycemic index of the food that contains resistant starch. This reduces the amount of blood sugar. It even reduces the amount of cholesterol in the blood. Dietician Annette M Goldberg of Boston Cancer Institute says that some studies have also claimed that resistant starch reduces the risk of some cancers. That is, it can also reduce the risk of cancer. On the other hand, stale rice is very beneficial for sugar and cholesterol patients.
How to consume stale rice
Dr. Mukta Vashisht says that in Japan it is made at night and then it is left aside and in the morning it is lightly heated and eaten. The same can be done here as well. If you want, you can heat the stale rice in the microwave in the morning and then eat it after cooling it or you can keep the rice kept in the fridge outside for a while and put it in the cooker again after adding some water, just like you did when you cooked the rice the first time. After this, after one or two whistles, take it out and consume it after cooling it. Dr. Mukta Vashisht says that however, never try to fry stale rice, it will not be of any benefit.
