The Supreme Court reprimanded Lok Sabha leader and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over the alleged comment on the Indian Army after a clash between India and China forces on 9 December 2022. The Supreme Court reprimanded Rahul Gandhi and said that if you are a true Indian, you will not say such things.
The court asked Rahul Gandhi how he came to know that 2000 km of land was captured by the Chinese. You are the Leader of the Opposition, say your point in Parliament, not on social media. The Supreme Court also issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and the complainant on the petition of Rahul Gandhi against summons in the comment case on the army.
Rahul Gandhi made this comment
During his 2023 India Jigso Yatra, the Congress leader claimed that a former military officer had told him that China had captured 2,000 square kilometers of Indian land. While hearing Gandhi’s petition challenging the defamation trial on this comment, the Supreme Court asked, “How do you know that China has captured the area of 2,000 km?” And said, “If you are a true Indian, you won’t say that.”
