PM Modi said that three decades ago he had come to America as an ordinary citizen and had seen the White House from outside. Modi said that today the 140 crore countrymen of India are honored and proud in a way by the grand welcome ceremony at the White House.
This honor is also an honor for the more than 4 million Indian people living in America. People of the Indian community are increasing the glory of India in America with their talent. Modi went to America in 1993 as a tourist. PM Modi referred to his visit when he went to America for the first time. Modi was standing near the boundary of the White House with his friends. Earlier, US President Joe Biden said in his address that the values of equality under law, freedom of expression, religious pluralism, diversity of our people are firm and have evolved. A large number of expatriate Indians gathered on the White House lawn to witness the official reception of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Joe Biden welcomed Prime Minister Modi in a traditional manner. Invitations were sent to around 8,000 people from the Diaspora and Indian American community for the event
Prime Minister Modi is on his first official state visit to the US. Even the drizzle did not affect the enthusiasm of the NRIs. The people who arrived here came from different parts of America and many of them traveled overnight. The Indian diaspora waved the flags of both the countries and raised slogans. People were raising slogans like ‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Modi, Modi’.
