According to media reports, this project will be taken forward on the basis of public-private partnership. The Ministry has also held meetings with Apparel and Knitwear Associations and other stakeholders from Chennai, Tiruppur, Karur and other regions in this regard and the response has been encouraging. At present, the matter has reached till the identification of the plot. The department has also allocated one crore rupees for feasibility study and preparation of DPR for this textile park. Once suitable land is available, the master plan of the scheme will be prepared and investors will be invited.
Officials associated with the project have told the media that the necessary state-of-the-art IT facilities will be set up in the textile park for setting up a marketing network and a huge marketplace will be created. Apart from the facilities of risers and development, there will also be facilities for wholesale and export. Facilitation centers for GST and Customs will also be set up so that the entrepreneurs will get ease in doing business. Ambatur will have manifold better infrastructure than what is currently available in the Textile Valley located in Karur. Presently suitable marketing facility for textile and clothing sector is not available in Tamil Nadu.
