Bangkok: A ship accident that occurred early today (Thursday) in the Gulf of Thailand has shocked the entire world. The plane suddenly caught fire while it was mid-air while taking off. As soon as the fire broke out, the passengers on the plane stopped breathing. There was screaming among the people in a race to save their lives. The massive fire on the ship was continuously increasing. Therefore, what the passengers did next might not have happened before in any ship accident in the world before today. Trapped in mid-air due to the massive fire, passengers risked their lives by jumping from the plane into the sea.
The pilots and crew members were also surprised to see the panicked passengers jumping into the sea. However, all the 108 people who jumped into the sea are said to be safe. Let us tell you that the overnight flight from Surat Thani province was about to reach Koh Tao, a popular tourist destination off the coast of Thailand, when one of the passengers suddenly heard a loud noise and smelled smoke. Maithri Promjampa said she first saw smoke and fire in less than five minutes and that’s when people started shouting and raising the alarm. “We could barely get life jackets,” he told The Associated Press. There was chaos. People were shouting, I too burst into tears.
All passengers and other people on board the ship remained safe.
Surat Thani officials said on Facebook that 97 of the 108 people on board the ship were passengers. The province’s public relations department said everyone was evacuated safely and no casualties were reported. It is seen in the video that people are rapidly coming out of the cabin of the ship wearing life jackets. Black smoke can be seen spreading over the ship. Later, flames can be seen coming out of the ship. Officials said the fire was brought under control. The fire broke out in the engine of the ship. The reason for this is being investigated. (AP)
