Gopalganj. Youths of Bihar are being sent to Vietnam and Cambodia on tourist visas on the pretext of getting jobs abroad, where they are being held hostage by cyber criminals from China and Pakistan and being forced to commit illegal online scams. After receiving such complaints from different cities, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started an investigation. In Gopalganj too, after the city police station, a second case has been registered in the cyber police station. Shubham Kumar, son of late Virendra Sharma, a resident of Hathua Bazaar of Hathua police station, who returned to his country after escaping the clutches of Cambodian cyber criminals, lodged a complaint in the cyber police station and narrated his ordeal. The team of police officers of the cyber police station was also shocked to hear Shubham’s story. Shubham told that Ashok Singh and Deepak Singh of Hathua Bazaar lured him into going abroad and getting him a job as a computer operator. They also demanded Rs 1.5 lakh for this.
Due to poor financial condition of the family, Shubham took Rs 1.15 lakh from his maternal uncle Upendra Sharma and deposited it in Ashok Singh’s account. Agent Ashok Singh sent him to Vietnam from Kolkata airport on 27 November 2023 on a tourist visa. In Vietnam, a stranger received Shubham and handed him over to an agent named Munna alias Anand Singh. From here, Shubham was taken to a place named Billa in Cambodia, where he was locked in a dark cell named DG Group and handed over to Chinese cyber criminals, where many youths from different districts of Bihar were already trapped.
