New Delhi: The southwest monsoon is advancing rapidly over most parts of the country. According to the weather department, the meteorological conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some parts of north Arabian Sea, Gujarat state, remaining parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh during next 3-4 days. The monsoon will cover northwest India by July 3, including Delhi and major agricultural states like Punjab and Haryana. The IMD forecast says, “Rainfall activity is likely to remain above normal over most parts of the country except western Himalayan region and western Rajasthan.”
Heavy rain expected in UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall with thunder, lightning and strong winds is likely in the Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 5 days. Heavy rainfall is likely in Bihar during 24 to 26 June, in Odisha on 22 and 26 June, in Jharkhand on 25 and 26 June and in Andaman and Nicobar Islands during 23 to 26 June. Scattered to heavy rainfall is likely in Uttarakhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh during 24 to 26 June.
Heavy rains are expected in these southern states
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Kerala and coastal areas as well as southern interior areas of Karnataka, Konkan-Goa and Madhya Maharashtra in the next four to five days. Fairly widespread light to moderate rains are expected over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 5 days.

Heavy rainfall is very likely over West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya during next 5 days, Heavy rainfall is very likely over West Bengal and Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh on 25th and 26th June. Heavy rainfall is very likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during 23rd and 24th June.
