Boost Immunity in Monsoon Season: After the scorching heat comes the humid season and after this with the first drop of rain the outbreak of infectious diseases increases. As the humidity increases the humidity in the air increases. In this season the virus, bacteria or fungus get a favorable time to breed. Countless viruses and bacteria start hovering everywhere which we cannot see with naked eyes. But they keep entering our body through air. As soon as they enter our body, the immune system of our body starts killing them.
This is how the infection spreads
There are so many types of chemicals in our mouth that they get trapped in it and get destroyed. After this, if it goes into the stomach, then there too the good bacteria are ready to kill it. After this, if it goes into the blood, it destroys the white blood cells. All these are effective as long as your immunity is strong. If the immune system is weak, then this virus or bacteria will give you infection and you will be afflicted with diseases. To know the answer to what should be done to increase immunity, we spoke to a dietician of Nanavati Max Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Rasika Mathur I talked to Dr. . He advised us to eat certain foods during the monsoon season and also advised us to exercise along with it. Let us know what those foods are.
What not to do first
Dr. Rasika Mathur, Senior Dietician at Nanavati Max Hospital, Mumbai, said that to increase immunity, one should first know what not to do. For this, give up bad habits. Consumption of cigarettes, alcohol, drugs weakens immunity. On the other hand, if you consume processed food, junk food, fast food, i.e., outside things in excess, then your immunity will weaken. Dr. Rasika Mathur said that these things will start forming free radicals in the body, which will increase the oxidative stress in the cells. If the oxidative stress in the cells increases, then the attack of external things will also increase. If more free radicals are formed in the body, then the risk of cancer will also increase. Therefore, consume these things as little as possible.
Include these things in your diet
Dr. Rasika Mathur said that nature has provided us with seasonal food in every season which fights with that season. Therefore, whether it is monsoon season or any other season, consume seasonal vegetables. Also, consume more of those foods which have high amount of antioxidants. This will not create free radicals in the body. For this, consume figs, cherries, guava, apricots, watermelon, papaya, tomatoes, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, mangoes, red grapes, strawberries, berries etc. Along with this, consume more of citrus fruits. These things increase vitamin C and white blood cells. This boosts immunity. For vitamin C, consume lemon, orange, mulberry, grapefruit, kiwi, amla, grapes, sweet and sour fruits. Apart from this, consume beetroot, avocado, radish, sweet potato, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, carrot etc. among green vegetables. Many types of seeds also increase immunity in the body. For this, consume flax seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds etc.
Exercise regularly
If you think that immunity will be boosted only by diet then you are wrong. Regular exercise is also needed to increase immunity. 150 minutes of exercise in a week is necessary. For this, walking, jogging, running if possible, cycling, swimming etc. will prove to be very beneficial.
Enough Sleep
Adequate sleep is also necessary to boost immunity. Along with adequate sleep, do not take stress. Stress is the enemy of immunity. To get rid of stress, take the help of yoga and meditation.
