IND vs ENG: The second semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played between India and England. Earlier also, the two teams played in the T20 World Cup 2022. Then the Indian team had to suffer defeat by 10 wickets. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma said that his team is focusing on staying calm and keeping things simple in the pressure-packed T20 World Cup semi-final against England here.
Big statement by Rohit Sharma before the semi-final
When asked if his team’s loss for the world title was due to fear of failure or bad luck in previous attempts, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said, “It has been a bit of both. We want to take it like a normal match. We don’t want to talk about it being a semi-final. We are enjoying each other’s company and we have to continue it. It is a knockout match. If you think too much, it is of no use.”
Rohit expressed confidence in the players
Rohit Sharma said in the post-match press conference that honestly, not much has changed since 2022. We have tried to play with an open mind in T20 and ODI. It all depends on the circumstances which were challenging throughout the tournament. He said that we want to be a ‘smart’ cricket team. I have kept things simple personally and for the players as well. We have done well with clarity in the role and trusting the players to take good decisions on the field.
Spinners get help in West Indies
Rohit said that everyone knows that they have to complete their work. We do not need any change from 2022 to 2024. The wickets in the Caribbean grounds are helpful for spin bowling, but Rohit did not give any assurance whether there will be four spinners in the team or not. Wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have performed brilliantly so far in the West Indies leg of the tournament. He said that we will assess the conditions and then decide on four spinners. Let’s see.
