Guwahati. The conspiracy of the terrorist organization ULFA (Independent) to spread a big devastation on 15th August in Assam failed. The banned terrorist organization United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) has claimed to have planted bombs at 24 places in the state to explode on Independence Day. After this, the police have recovered eight ‘explosive like’ items from five districts of Assam on Thursday. In an email allegedly sent by ULFA (I) to many media houses, the terrorist organization claimed that the bombs planted by it did not explode due to technical failure. Due to this, the devastation that was to happen at many places in Assam was averted.
The terrorist organization ULFA (I) said that these bombs were to be exploded between 6 am and 12 noon on August 15. But when this did not happen, ULFA (I) said that it is seeking the help of the public to find and defuse them. It sent a list of 19 places across the state, where it said bombs were planted. The terrorist organization said that the remaining five places where the bombs were planted could not be traced. After this, the police started a search operation. As a result, eight bombs were recovered. However, the police said that the necessary equipment for explosion was not installed in them.
2 bombs recovered from Guwahati
Assam Police said that two of these bombs were recovered from Guwahati and the rest from Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Nalbari and Nagaon. Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah said that two of these bombs were found in Guwahati city. One of these was found under a paan shop in Pan Bazar area of Guwahati and the other inside the BSNL switchboard in Gandhi Mandap area. Barah said that through the media, ULFA (I) told that bombs were planted at eight places in Guwahati. Our teams searched all the eight places, but nothing suspicious or like IED and bomb was found at six places.

The bombs were sent for forensic examination
He told the media that we should be very careful, so a bomb disposal team examined both the bombs. Our sniffer dog was also brought and the bombs were carefully opened. It was seen that they had circuits, but there was no triggering system. There was some explosive-like substance in a container inside both the bombs. But we can find out whether it is explosive or not only after chemical examination by an expert. Meanwhile, Assam DGP GP Singh said that the substance inside the ‘bombs’ has been sent for forensic examination. The bombs found in the rest of the state have been ‘safely disposed of’.
