New Delhi. The Bangladesh border has become very sensitive. There is always some criminal activity going on here. In view of the problems of smuggling and infiltration, BSF soldiers were deployed on the Bangladesh border. Its purpose is to curb illegal activities. Due to the alertness of BSF soldiers, a few days ago a big operation of smugglers was foiled. The vigilant BSF soldiers also killed the Bangladeshi smuggler. It is being told that he was engaged in smuggling sugar. When the BSF soldiers challenged him, he became violent and started running away. After this, the BSF killed him.
According to the information, the Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead an alleged Bangladeshi smuggler near the India-Bangladesh border in Sipahijala district of Tripura. A Tripura State Police jawan (who carried the body to the Boxanagar Community Health Center) said that the deceased was found with some sacks of sugar on the Indian side of the border. Later, a BSF Public Relations Officer (PRO) said that the jawans were marching in an area near the Kalamchaura Border Outpost (BOP) at around 7:30 am when they saw a large group of smugglers armed with sharp-edged weapons.

The BSF officer further said that the smugglers were trying to smuggle goods across the international border. When they were stopped, the smugglers did not pay attention and became aggressive. They tried to surround the BSF jawans with the intention of attacking them and snatching their weapon. The officer said that sensing the danger, the BSF jawan fired one round from the Pump Action Gun (PAG) in self-defense. However, he said that the BSF jawan named Rajiv Kumar failed to foil the smugglers using a non-lethal weapon.
Encounter of smuggler
The BSF officer said that after a brief scuffle, the Border Security Force constable was forced to fire a round from his service INSAS rifle. He said that in the encounter, a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed close to the border fence and about 150 yards inside the Indian territory. After this, a thorough search was conducted and a large quantity of sugar, four knives and wooden planks were seized from the spot. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Anwar Hussain, a resident of Mirpur in Comilla district of Bangladesh. A similar incident had come to light in the same area earlier this month. The BSF claimed that the same group of Bangladeshi smugglers involved in Sunday’s attack had brutally attacked the BSF constable and tried to drag him towards Bangladesh. The miscreants had snatched the soldier’s weapon (PAG) and radio set.
