New Delhi: The campaign for Lok Sabha elections is going on in full swing across the country. Meanwhile, a lot of rhetoric is being made from all the parties. At the same time, after a statement given by PM Modi during a public meeting in Rajasthan, opposition parties across the country are protesting against it. In this sequence, Congress leaders reached the Election Commission to complain against the statement made by PM Modi during a rally regarding Muslims. Congress leaders Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Sappal have complained about the matter to the Election Commission on Monday.
Immediate action on PM’s statement take
After complaining to the Election Commission, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, ‘We are thankful that the Election Commission listened to us. He said that there are 17 complaints from our side, but I will tell about three-four. The Commission should take immediate action. We respect the PM of the country. The Commission should take immediate action on the PM’s statement. He said that the PM’s statement given in Rajasthan is vulgar. The name of a community and religion has been taken in the statement. The statement has linked community or religion with the infiltrators.
Attack on the identity of the Constitution
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi further said that ‘PM mentioned Mangal Sutra in his statement. The PM has attacked the identity of the Indian Constitution. The Constitution says that secularism is an integral part of the basic structure of our Constitution. Now it is the responsibility of the Commission to take action, it is a question related to the dignity of the country.
What is the PM’s statement?
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi had said in an election rally in Rajasthan on Sunday that if Congress comes to power at the Centre, it will take people’s property and distribute it among Muslims. Modi said this while quoting a statement of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in which he had reportedly said that the minority community has the ‘first right’ on the country’s resources.
