While talking to Local 18, Gokul Bisht, director and yoga trainer of Sadhak Yogashala located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, said that yoga is an effective means to keep the kidneys healthy. Its regular practice improves blood circulation, which provides the kidney with essential nutrients and oxygen. Stress-relieving asanas and pranayama reduce excess pressure on the kidneys and control high blood pressure. These three asanas are very beneficial for the kidneys.
Trikonasana
To do this, stand straight and spread your legs, about 3-4 feet apart. Bend to the right, bend the right leg at 90 degrees and keep the left leg straight. Place the right hand on the right thigh and raise the left hand straight towards the sky. Tilt the body to the right and place the left hand on the right thigh. Stay in this position for 20-30 seconds and then slowly repeat in the opposite direction.
Malasana
To do Malasana, stand straight and spread your legs shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees and lower your waist. Keep both hands together in a prayer position in front of your chest. Press your elbows inwards towards your thighs and press your thighs outwards. Stay in this position for 20-30 seconds and then slowly stand back up.
Halasana
To do Halasana, lie down on your back and keep your hands straight near your body. Raise both legs together and slowly bring them above your head to the ground position. Move your feet towards the ground and rest your thumbs on the ground. Keep your hands under your back and support with your arms. Stay in this position for a few seconds and then slowly bring your legs down and lie down again.
