New Delhi. Four persons have been arrested for allegedly carrying more than 200 kg of marijuana hidden among household items in a truck in the national capital, police officials said on Saturday. DCP (East) Apoorva Gupta said that the truck was loaded with household items of Army and BSF personnel such as tables, chairs, fridge, bicycles etc., among which the marijuana was hidden.
DCP Apurv Gupta said that on the intervening night of 4 and 5 June, the anti-narcotics unit of East Delhi received information about a large quantity of ganja being transported in a truck under the guise of bringing household goods of a security guard from West Bengal to Delhi. DCP Gupta said that based on this information, a team raided and saw two persons unloading white cartons from the truck near the construction site of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on a road leading to Ghazipur Sabzi Mandi.

The police officer said that on searching, 215 kg of ganja was found which was hidden in household items. According to the SHO, later the truck driver Inderpal (36) and his assistant Manish (28) were caught. According to him, Inderpal admitted that this truck belonged to him and he had loaded the household goods of the security guard in the truck on June 1 at Hashimara in Cooch Behar, West Bengal and was coming to Delhi Cantt with them. The SHO said that other accused are being searched and investigated.
To whom was the consignment of ganja to be given?
Police said Inderpal also disclosed that he had to deliver the ganja to Labloo Chaudhary (33), a resident of Vasundhara in Uttar Pradesh, at the RRTA construction site. Another official said that based on information provided by Inderpal during interrogation, Chaudhary was arrested and 22 kg of ganja was recovered from his house. According to police, based on information provided by Chaudhary, drug peddler Mohammad Fayaz alias Hafiz (35) was arrested on June 13 and 8.5 kg of ganja was recovered from his house in Chipyana village in Ghaziabad.
