Ranchi: One of the three thieves who broke into a shop in Balumath in Jharkhand’s Latehar district to steal, died a painful death by burning. According to reports, the thieves had entered with candles and before they could carry out the crime, the shop caught fire from the candles. In this incident on Friday night, one of the three thieves died a painful death while the other two were badly burnt. According to reports, the injured have been admitted to the hospital by the police for treatment.
A candle slipped from the hand and fell on a gallon of petrol
Three people entered a general store in Pakri village of Balumath police station area with the intention of stealing. One of them was searching the cash counter with a candle in his hand. Meanwhile, the candle slipped from his hand and fell down. During this, the fire suddenly broke out after coming in contact with the petrol gallon kept in the shop. When the thieves trapped in the shop shouted, people nearby ran. Two of them were taken out, while a thief surrounded by flames died inside the shop. The deceased has been identified as Amit Turi, a resident of Balumath police station area. The names of the injured thieves are Sagar Turi and Satyam Bhuiyan.
Thousands of goods burnt to ashes in the shop due to fire
On receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot late at night and took both the injured to the hospital. One of them, Sagar Turi, has suffered more than 80 percent burns. Police have recorded the statement of Satyam Bhuiyan. He is a resident of Murup village in Latehar district. He has said that he had come to his relative’s house in Pakri village. Amit and Sagar Turi had lured him and brought him with them. Shop owner Balkeshwar Sahu has told police that goods worth thousands of rupees in the shop were destroyed in the fire. Balumath DSP Ashutosh Satyam said that police is investigating the matter. (IANS)
