Germany’s leading luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes Benz is all set to launch the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India on March 3. Like the previous-gen model, the new Maybach S-class will be newly introduced with a wheelbase of around 180 mm and an even more luxurious cabin. This new car is based on the company’s V223 S-class. Many advanced features are being included in this car which make it much better than others in the segment.
Like the previous model, the new Maybach S-Class is not far from the standard S-Class in terms of looks. Apart from the longer wheelbase and bigger rear doors, the luxury limousine gets several Maybach-specific cosmetic tweaks, including the signature Maybach grille, sleek wheel design, extra chrome and the Maybach logo on the C-pillar.
As far as the cabin design is concerned, the Maybach has been in-lined with distinctive upholstery. It also gets trim inserts and graphics for the touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. It is believed that the company will offer it with a 4-seat layout. Other features include powered rear seats, seat massager and a boss mode to stretch out the co-driver side. That is, while sitting on the seat, the driver and co-driver will also get the facility of massage.
How will the engine of Maybach S-class be:
On the lines of the global market, the company can offer this car with two variants, which include S 580 and S 680. The company’s 4.0 liter capacity V8 engine has been given in the S580 variant of this car, which generates 503hp power and 700Nm torque. This engine is equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology which gives it an additional 20hp power. On the other hand, in the S 680 variant, the company has used a V12 engine of 6.0 liters capacity, which generates 612hp power and 900Nm torque. The special thing about both these engines is that, they come with 9-speed automatic gearbox.
It is believed that the company may locally assemble the S 580, which will be manufactured at its plant in Chakan. However, it remains to be seen whether the model will be locally assembled from the beginning or will be imported as CBU units along with the initial units. At the same time, the company can import the S 680 variant with a completely complete built unit (CBU). Although it is difficult to say anything about the price of this car before the launch, but experts believe that the company can launch this car at a price of Rs 2 crore.
