Asia Cup: The ODI Asia Cup 2023 title was won by the Indian team by defeating Sri Lanka. Now India will host the next season of the men’s Asia Cup cricket tournament in T20 format in 2025, which will be before the T20 World Cup to be held in the country in 2026. The Asian Cricket Council announced this. Bangladesh will host this tournament in ODI format in 2027 as the ODI World Cup is to be played in South Africa in 2027.

Pakistan was the host of the last Asia Cup

The Asia Cup is always used as a preparation for the global event and is played in the same format in which the World Cup will be held. The 2023 season of the Asia Cup was hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board on a ‘hybrid model’. India then refused to tour Pakistan and all India’s matches were then played in Sri Lanka.

There will be so many matches in the tournament

There will be 13 matches each in the Asia Cup, which will be played in T20 format in India and 50 overs format in Bangladesh. The Asia Cup is going to be organized in India after 34 years. Earlier, the 1991 Men’s Asia Cup was organized in India. There is every possibility of the Pakistani team coming to the Asia Cup to be held in India. The ODI World Cup 2023 was also organized in India. Even then the Pakistani team came to Pakistan to play cricket.

The Asian Cricket Council said in a statement issued in the IEOI that ‘Men’s Asia Cup Tournament’ means a men’s cricket tournament held at an interval of two years among members nominated by the ACC. It will feature teams from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and a non-Test playing member of the ACC. Non-Test countries will qualify for it through a qualifying tournament.
