England’s dashing batsman Jos Buttler has withdrawn his name from the upcoming SA20 tournament. Butler has taken this big decision due to participating in international matches. Let us tell you, Butler plays for Paarl Royals in SA20. This franchise has shared Butler’s message on social media in which he has thanked the fans. Butler has indicated that he may return to this tournament in the future. The England team will tour India during the SA20 tournament where it will play five T20Is and 3 ODIs. The tour will start on January 22 and will run till February 12. Butler has said that he wants to focus on international cricket and is preparing for the Champions Trophy.
Butler said in a video shared by the franchise, “This message is for the Paarl Royal fans. I am sad that I will not be able to participate in SA20 this year. England has some matches, so I want to put my full focus on these matches. I am disappointed that I will not be able to play in this tournament this year. I have received a lot of love from the fans in this tournament. Especially from the Paarl Royals fans. I want to wish my team all the best. I can come back in the future.
Butler had a great season in the 2023 SA 20. He scored 408 runs in 11 matches and was the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament. Thanks to this brilliant performance of Butler, Royal managed to qualify for the Eliminator where they lost by 9 wickets against Joburg Super Kings.
Meanwhile, Paarl Royal has included Dinesh Karthik in its team as a replacement for Butler. Dinesh had announced his retirement after IPL 2024 and has now decided to play in South Africa. Royal has already retained many players including captain David Miller, Lungi Ngidi and Andile Fehlukwayo.
