This DSP is not at all naive, court sentenced him to 10 years in jail in a drugs case


Chandigarh. A Mohali court has sentenced drug racket kingpin and former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jagdish Singh Bhola to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in a money laundering case. The court has convicted 17 accused, including former DSP Bhola, in this drug smuggling case worth about Rs 6 thousand crores. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on them, failing which they may have to spend another year in jail.

There were a total of 23 accused in this case, out of which four have died and two accused have been declared fugitives. In this case, the Mohali court has sentenced Jagdish Bhola, Manpreet, Sukhraj Sukhjeet Sukh and Maninder to 10 years of imprisonment. Bhola’s wife Gurpreet Kaur has been sentenced to 3 years.

In this case, Bhola’s other accomplices named in the charge sheet have also been sentenced. Of these, seven have been sentenced to four years, five to five years and a woman and an elderly accused have been sentenced to three years each under various sections of PMLA.

Bhola has been a DSP of Punjab Police. He has been a wrestler earlier and has also participated in the Asian Games. This has been a historic case of ED, in which so many accused have been sentenced together.

Bhola was arrested once in November 2023. Later, the ED took him into custody and questioned him about the allegations of money laundering related to the drug case registered against him and his close ones. Bhola was sentenced to 24 years in three cases related to drug smuggling by a special CBI court in Mohali.
