Travelling from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is now going to be easier than ever. The airport has significantly expanded its state-of-the-art digital gateway program to enhance the travel experience for both DigiYatra and non-DigiYatra travellers. It has also increased the terminal entry points (e-gates) from 24 to 68, the highest number of e-gates at curbside/landside in the country.
Capacity of terminals will increase
According to the news, this expansion will increase the airport’s processing capacity to 7,440 passengers per hour at Terminal 2 (T2) and 2,160 at T1, which is three times the current capacity. With the introduction of the digital gateway, the waiting time at the curbside has been reduced to less than a minute. A CSMIA spokesperson said that we are excited to announce the significant expansion of our DigiYatra facility on our digital gateway platform at CSMIA.
Initiatives to ensure safe and seamless travel
The spokesperson said that this initiative reflects our dedication towards leading technological advancements that improve the passenger experience. By increasing the number of e-gates and integrating advanced biometric systems, we are committed to ensuring faster, safer and seamless travel for all our passengers. CSMIA’s digital gateway combines the benefits of technology, process excellence, big data analytics and design thinking to deliver a great passenger experience.
Increased facilities at T2 and T1
Here, the number of terminal entry points has now increased from 24 to 68, achieved through advanced technology alone without the need for any major civil work. The digital gateway at T2 now offers 28 dedicated DigiYatra e-gates as well as 28 dedicated non-DigiYatra e-gates. Additionally, Terminal 1 (T1) has 6 dedicated DigiYatra e-gates and 6 non-DigiYatra e-gates, further enhancing the airport’s overall capacity and passenger experience.
